Nearby Transportation Projects
- I-485 Express Lanes: North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is adding a new express lane in each direction. Project will be completed in Winter 2024. More information can be found here: https://www.ncdot.gov/projects/i-485-express-lanes/pages/default.aspx
- Weddington Road/I-485 Interchange: North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is adding an enterance and exit, Exit 54, to I-485 at Weddington Road. This is scheduled to be operational in 2022. - McKee Road Extension, Segment A: North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is extending McKee Road by 4,000 feet, from its existing terminus at Pleasent Plains Road to John Street. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2025.
- Charlotte Area Transportation System (CATS) Light Rail – Silver Line: A new light rail line will run from Indian Trail, passing Uptown and the airport, to Belmont. Indian Trail to the Charlotte Gateway Station in Uptown is scheduled to open in 2036; Belmont to the Charlotte Gateway Station is scheduled to open in 2039. The closest stop to our neighborhood is scheduled to be at Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC), down the McKee Road Extension.
